Where to Find Underrated Musical Talent in London
Find out which place is popping when it comes to finding underrated talent in London in this month’s ‘Music & Empowerment’ article by Nina G.
I often get asked where to find or get involved in the underground music scene in London. Truth is, there are so many open mics in London (and across the UK) where you can find new music talent and even get involved, and to me that’s the beauty of the underground music scene. It’s a lot more accessible than people think. For this month’s article I want to discuss one of my favorites: RCRDSHOP.
Where is it based?
Boxpark, Shoreditch. Yup, not only are you in a super lit place within East London, but you have access to food, shops, drinks, and music all in one place, making it a great place to hang on your own or go out with your friends.
When Does RCRDSHOP occur?
RCRDSHOP takes place every Sunday.
What Exactly is RCRDSHOP?
RCRDSHOP is a live music platform founded in 2017 by @jaywilcoxthat1. RCRDSHOP invites underrated artists to come perform live with RCRDSHOP’s incredible live band whose talent is simply out of this world! The in-house band consists of bass guitarist @digbylovatt, keys player @jaywilcoxthat1, electric guitarist @itsgeojordan, and drum player, @daviddysondrums. However, one of the cool things about RCRDSHOP is that they also invite other instrumentalists to play in the band. Some reoccurring members include @jamespatonmusic, @mannybass_99 and @rashaanbmusic. And of course, it wouldn’t be a party without the dope hosts @deegrantmuzik, @marc_tc, @riannalints, and @amiesnow and DJ, @chasethaworst who knows how to make everybody vibe with the tunes he be picking.
Why Should You Visit?
The VIBE! RCRDSHOP is one of those live performance places where whether you’re performing or watching, you are guaranteed to have a good time. From an artist perspective, the band, hosts, and everyone behind RCRDSHOP are extremely welcoming, and it’s a great place to network with other musicians. From an audience perspective, you get to discover new artists, enjoy good music on your own or with your friends, and get to interact with the artists if you are a fan.
